Laboratory medicine / pathology
Sonic Healthcare is the market leader in laboratory medicine / pathology in Australia, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and Northern Belgium (Flanders), and the third largest private laboratory company in the US.
Our state-of-the-art laboratories are staffed by more than 1,300 specialist pathologists and thousands of medical scientists and technicians, providing clinicians with timely and accurate results for optimal patient management.
All Sonic laboratories meet and exceed the accreditation requirements mandated by the relevant local accreditation authority for all the testing we perform. In addition, many of our pathology laboratories in the Sonic Healthcare group are accredited to ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratories – Requirements for Quality and Competence (ISO 15189). This allows us to work collaboratively with our different quality groups across the world, ensuring, where possible, that procedures and processes are standardised across the Sonic network of practices.

Since its establishment in 2007, Sonic Healthcare USA has grown to become the third-largest laboratory medicine company in the United States.
Sonic's involvement in the US began in 2005 with the acquisition of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) of Austin, Texas. Since that time, and with the benefit of subsequent clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology acquisitions and strong organic growth, Sonic Healthcare USA has expanded its footprint to provide its specialist laboratory and pathology services throughout the US.
At present, there are eight operating divisions within Sonic Healthcare USA, with more than 8,000 employees nationwide.
Headquartered in Berlin, Sonic Healthcare Germany is the largest provider of laboratory medicine/pathology services in Germany with approximately 60 laboratories across the country.

Switzerland
Sonic Healthcare Switzerland is the largest provider of laboratory medicine in Switzerland, comprising of more than 30 comprehensive and specialist medical laboratories across all three Swiss language regions.
Belgium
Headquartered in Antwerp, Sonic Healthcare Benelux services northern Belgium (Flanders) and the Netherlands with comprehensive medical laboratory/pathology services including specialist anatomical pathology, molecular pathology, veterinary medicine, occupational medicine, toxicology and forensic diagnostics.
Radiology
Sonic Healthcare is the second largest radiology provider in Australia.
All Sonic’s radiology practices are independently accredited against the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS) and guided by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) Standards of Practice. Our practices also comply with all relevant standards regarding private health regulation and radiation safety.
Sonic's radiology division is made up of eight practice groups, with more than 120 radiology centres geographically spread across Australia.
Our services are overseen by approximately 300 specialist radiologists and nuclear physicians, many of whom have sub-specialty expertise. They are supported by our highly trained and experienced technical and clerical practice staff who are focused on providing the best service, care and clinical outcomes for doctors and their patients.
Clinical services
Sonic Healthcare Australia - Clinical Services is Sonic's primary care division, operating in partnership with approximately 2,000 general practitioners across one or more of 200 medical centres.
Every Sonic primary care medical centre is accredited in accordance with the Standards for general practice, set by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). The accreditation process is based on a three-year audit cycle, and is conducted by approved external providers, Quality Practice Accreditation (QPA) or Australian General Practice Accreditation (AGPAL). This process ensures that our practices meet the requirements of the government-endorsed industry standards set by the RACGP.
Sonic Healthcare's Australian Clinical Services division brings together a broad spectrum of health services including general practice clinics and after hours GP services, occupational health services, remote health services, community and home nursing services, primary care research programs, health assessment technologies, clinical trials and chronic disease management programs.
Sonic's clinical services network includes trusted brands such as IPN Medical Centres, Sonic HealthPlus and Australian Skin Cancer Clinics, and provides national healthcare services and solutions throughout metropolitan, regional and rural Australia.
